Lymphedema Therapy

HealthBridge Arlington Heights is now offering Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) for lymphedema. While there is no cure for lymphedema, CDT is considered the gold standard for treating lymphedema and reducing any resulting swelling and possible infection. CDT treatments can include targeted exercise, manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging, skin care, and lymphedema-specific education to help provide patients with the necessary tools to properly manage this chronic condition. Our therapists are trained and certified in this highly successful therapy regimen.

The following is a sample schedule of what a day might look like for your loved one at our facility. Keep in mind, within our post-acute environment, timetables frequently change depending on current medical situation involving a patient and changing schedules of our medical and rehab staff.

7:00 am – 8:00 am Morning ADLs, or activities of daily living (Nursing, OT)
7:30 am – 9:00 am Breakfast
7:30 am – 9:30 am Morning Medications
9:00 am Morning paper and Daily Chronicle delivered
9:30 am Therapy (PT/OT/ST)
10:30 am Meet with MD
11:30 am – 1:00 pm Lunch/Feeding & Swallowing Retraining (OT/SLP)
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Afternoon Medications
1:30 pm Therapy (PT, OT, ST)
2:30 pm Therapy (PT, OT, ST)
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm Activities (i.e., nail painting, book cart, group game, arts and crafts)
4:30 pm – 6:00 pm Dinner
7:30 pm Snack cart and Evening Medications
